I’ve mentioned it before, but texture can be even more useful than pattern in putting together a coherent outfit.  This brown knit tie, for example, provides a solid counterpoint to the patterns in the shirt and pocket square, yet the texture gives it depth and keeps it more interesting than a plain satin or repp tie would be.

Suit: Brooks Brothers, warehouse sale, $150
Shirt: Brioni, consignment store, $20
Tie: Daniel Cremieux, store sale, $20
Pocket square: Faconnable,  thrifted, $5
Shoes: Brooks Brothers, clearance, $180
Tailoring: $50

Total:  $425
If I’d paid retail prices: In the neighborhood of $3000

That suit looks a little tight/needs a good cleaning.
