Sometimes when you try out a new combination of pieces in an outfit it works well…and sometimes it doesn’t.  This, I think, is the latter – I wanted to wear this green jacket for the first time and tried it with gray flannel pants, which normally go with just about anything.  In this case, however, there’s too little contrast between the jacket and trousers.  It’s hard to tell that it’s not a suit, and that’s not desirable when you’re not, actually, wearing a suit.

Okay…I am officially jealous (LOL). I agree with Bob…that Attolini jacket is amazing. Had it been me finding it, I would have hung on to it for dear life, while looking over my shoulder as I left the building!

Thifting is a lot of fun but when you find high-end tailor-made clothing (even if only once), it becomes an ambition! At least for me.

Thanks for posting your fabulous jacket and I wish you just as much luck in your future thrifting!

That $5 Attolini jacket is epic. I think the outfit looks like it probably worked out decently in person, if not in the pics–I see your point about it looking, at first glance, like a suit. The relative parity in the textural aspects of the jacket and pants, and the obvious difference in color discernible from the second and third pics make the outfit look pretty good overall to me, and the burgundy/brown hues in the tie, PS, shoes, and jacket buttons bring it all together nicely imo. I’m always a huge sucker for olive and burgundy though. Maybe next time the same fit but with navy pants? BTW, great blog. We share similar sartorial missions (i.e., getting $4K outfits for $200), and I remember well your early WIWTs on SF!

Thanks! I wore the jacket again today with different trousers. I’ll post a photo soon and we’ll see if it worked better this time.
