Shopping at thrift stores is often hard work, and people who just see the nice things I find don’t realize how little return there can be on the time you put into it.  Over the Christmas weekend, I visited five thrift stores in the town where I was visiting family, and didn’t find much.  There were a few near misses–a nice navy blazer and some vintage sportcoats that all had moth holes, sadly.

I did find one worthwhile item, though: a Hickey Freeman custom suit.  HF suits normally start at around $900, and custom orders can be $1500 or more.  I got this one for $15.  It doesn’t fit me, so I’ll be reselling it and putting the money towards something else on my wish list.
