I am really, really not a fan of exotic leathers (alligator, crocodile, snakeskin, stingray, lizard, ostrich, etc.) in men’s shoes.  They’re just gaudy.  Those alligator Gucci loafers with the horsebits across the vamp are some of the ugliest things in the world.  But I have come to appreciate exotics in a more subtle application, like a belt.  This brown snakeskin lizard belt is becoming a favorite.

Suit: Samuelsohn, thrifted, $20
Shirt: Brioni, thrifted, $20
Tie: Brooks Brothers, outlet, $15
Belt: Cole Haan, thrifted, $2
Shoes: Allen Edmonds, Ebay, $40
Tailoring: $80

Total: $177
At retail prices: $1400 or more

Edit: Joe helpfully points out in the comments that the belt is lizard, not snakeskin. Which I think I may have known, but had a brain fart.  Thanks for the correction, Joe!

Just found your website, I really like it. The belt is lizard (Teju lizard to be specific) by the way, which is better than snakeskin anyway.
