Camel hair jacket, blue shirt, foulard tie, cordovan penny loafers.  Pair them with gray or brown flannel pants, and it’s an attractive and fairly ordinary combination.  But swap the trousers out for some maroon brushed cotton ones, and you get an outfit that’s unexpected and fun.  If the tie has some maroon in it to tie the outfit together, so much the better.

I wore a similar combination today, only with a tan cotton jacket and corduroy trousers. I didn’t figure corduroy would pair quite right with my camel hair jacket. What do you think?

JD, I think it could work, as long as there’s a fair amount of color contrast with the jacket. If the cords are any kind of earth tone (brown, green) they’d have to be pretty dark. Or in another color family altogether like blues or reds.

  2. Hey, that’s sharp! Very nice. I’ll have to try something similar myself.
